Child Safety & Safeguarding

Safety first by design

Zonuko is built for children and families. Our aim is to support creativity, confidence and learning by doing while keeping children safe, supported and appropriately supervised.

1. Our safety principles

  • Parent controlled accounts and household oversight
  • No direct messaging between children
  • No public comments, follower counts or open social feeds
  • Guided comments using pre written prompts to keep interactions safe and respectful
  • Safety considered in product decisions from the start

2. Parent controls

Parents and carers remain in control of each child's experience.

  • Manage child profiles from the parent dashboard
  • Review progress and project activity
  • Control sharing settings for each child
  • Turn sharing off where preferred

3. Content moderation

Work shared in showcase areas may be reviewed before being featured. We focus on safety, respectful participation and protecting personal information.

  • Admin review before featuring work publicly in platform spaces
  • Personal details are not part of public sharing
  • The communal sharing page is closely moderated and guided around current topics
  • No private messaging between children
  • No open comment threads and no free text replies between children
  • Responses are limited to preselected options where appropriate
  • Accounts can be restricted if safety rules are breached

4. Reporting concerns and escalation

If you see content or behaviour that worries you, please contact us straight away. We treat safeguarding reports as priority issues and act quickly where risk is identified.

  • Report by email: [email protected]
  • Initial acknowledgement target: within one working day

5. Data and child privacy

Children should not need to share personal details to take part in creative learning. We use child facing display conventions such as usernames and avatars, and reduce personal data exposure in platform areas.

Full data handling details are published in our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

6. Age suitability and boundaries

Zonuko is designed for children aged 6 to 16 with age appropriate tracks and project depth. Parent involvement is expected, especially for younger children and practical activities.

Shared community spaces are moderated more closely than project spaces and are guided towards current themes, prompts and safe participation.
